Discover the Magic of 10cc - Art Rock at Its Finest
10cc formed in Stockport back in 1972 and quickly carved out their own space in the world of rock music. Blending pop, rock, and experimental sounds, they created a style that was unmistakably theirs — clever, quirky, and endlessly innovative.
More than fifty years on, their music still connects with fans around the world, proving just how timeless their creativity really is.
How 10cc Started
The original 10cc lineup brought together four hugely talented musicians: Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley, and Lol Creme. Each member came with their own strengths — Gouldman was already an established hitmaker for bands like The Yardbirds and The Hollies, Stewart added technical brilliance and smooth vocals, and Godley and Creme brought a flair for experimentation that pushed the band into bold, imaginative territory.
Their debut album, 10cc, arrived in 1973 and introduced listeners to sharp songwriting and playful lyrics. Tracks like “Rubber Bullets” and “Donna” quickly became hits. A year later, Sheet Music cemented their reputation as musical innovators, thanks to standout songs including “The Wall Street Shuffle” and “Silly Love.”
Hits That Made History
The band reached new heights in 1975 with The Original Soundtrack. On it was “I’m Not in Love,” the lush, dreamy ballad that became their biggest global hit. Its layered, looped vocal sound was groundbreaking at the time and remains one of the most recognisable studio productions in pop history.
More successful albums followed — How Dare You! (1976), Deceptive Bends (1977), and Bloody Tourists (1978), which featured the much-loved “Dreadlock Holiday.” Even after Godley and Creme left in 1976 to explore new projects, 10cc continued to evolve and deliver hits.
A Lasting Legacy
10cc’s impact can still be felt today. Their fearless approach to songwriting and production helped shape the future of pop and rock music. Their clever, often humorous lyrics and inventive studio tricks set them apart and earned them a lasting place in music history.
Today, Graham Gouldman keeps the spirit of 10cc alive, touring with a talented lineup of musicians. Their live shows celebrate both the classic songs fans adore and the band’s continued creativity.
